When choosing your DermaRoller, what needle size is best for you?

The Scientia Derma Roller is available in a choice of different needle sizes, so you should choose the needle size which best suits the condition or body part you are trying to treat.

Derma Roller Needle sizes for home use include 0.5mm, 1mm (1.0mm), 1.5mm and for professional use, we have 2mm (2.0mm) and 2.5mm rollers.  We also have 3 line rollers (made narrow to reach harder to treat areas like around the nose) in 1.0mm and 1.5mm sizes.

So what needle size is best for me?

Which needle size for stretch marks?

We recommend 1.0mm for light stretch marks and 1.5mm for deep stretch marks, you would need to decide which would best suit your needs.

The correct needle size for acne scars or other facial scars?

We recommend 0.5mm for light acne scarring, mild chicken pox scars or ice pick scars, or simply regular anti ageing treatments.  A 1.0mm roller is more suitable for deep acne scarring, surgery scars, ice pick or chicken pox scars, and 1.5mm Derma Rollers are for very deep scarring.   A Derma Roller 1.5mm is the maximum we would recommend for use on the face (unless as part of a professional treatment), but your body is less sensitive to treatment,  so you should decide which would best suit your needs.

You may also wish to choose the 3 line roller as it is better suited to use on certain parts of your face (such as around the nose), but it is not always necessary as our regular roller may suit you.

What size of DermaRoller for hair loss?

For thinning hair or greying hair, the 0.5mm Derma Roller is ideal, with 1mm rollers more suitable for more extensive hair loss.

What about for Cellulite?

The best needle size for cellulite is 1mm or 1.5mm depending on how severe the case is.

Is the right Derma Roller needle length the only factor?

No.  We also recommend the use of our vitamin rich treatment cream and Scientia Nutrition MultiVitamins as they have all the ingredients needed to support the use of the Scientia Derma Roller, and we find it can speed up results by giving your skin the building blocks it needs to generate new collagen and elastin –  the materials which give your skin its elasticity and smooth texture.

What about sterilizing your Derma Roller?

To sterilize your Derma Roller, we recommend the same product used to sterilize baby’s bottles (sterilisation liquid or sterilising fluid) available from your local pharmacy or supermarket.

If you have any further questions about the Scientia Derma Roller, please feel free to browse our frequently asked questions page.  For information on how to use the roller, visit our Derma Roller instructions page.  We also have a before and after pictures page, along with a Derma Roller reviews page where you can read all the latest customer feedback.  Finally, our disclaimer also lists when the use of a Derma Roller is and isn’t appropriate.

Acne Scar Remover – Feel better about your complexion!

Although the embarrassment that comes with acne is generally associated with the teenage population, the fact is acne can have a negative effect on people of all ages.  It may be more prominent with the younger crowd due to the fact that they are much more affected by the opinions and actions of their peers, but long after the pressure filled high school days are over acne scarring can still cause problems and stress in both the workplace as well as social interactions.  Dealing with acne is aggravating, but usually with time or acne creams the problem will go away.  The real trouble is when the acne causes scarring that does not go away.  If you have this problem, then no doubt you are searching for the best possible acne scar remover that you can find.  There are several options to treat acne scarring, let’s take a closer look at a few of the more popular ones.

The Most Well Known and Common Acne Scar Remover

Laser treatments are a quick and effective acne scar remover, but the word “laser” tends to scare many people off.  On top of that, laser treatments may carry a bit higher cost than many are able or willing to pay.  Microdermabrasion and chemical peels may not offer the same type of results as laser treatment, but they are also a widely used method in treating acne scarring.  Injections such as dermal fillers can help cure the problem as well, but the problem with them is that you may need to get several injections before you begin to see the results.  The availability of all of these types of treatments listed above to you will largely be determined by several factors.  Examples of these factors include your medical history, age, and even the severity of the scarring itself.

Treatments for Acne Scars That Don’t Cost the Earth

Home made treatments are a possibility for those who do not wish to spend the time or money to try and rectify the problem at the dermatologist’s office.  While these may not be near as effective and take longer to see results, many find comfort in the fact that it’s a less invasive option due to the embarrassment of dealing with the problem publicly.  Examples of these types of treatments include the use of different types of fruits and vegetables that have vitamins such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and Pantothenic acid.  Applying lemon and mint juices and drinking plenty of water are also forms of home made remedies that you may wish to try.  One of the best tools that you can use to help heal your skin in the privacy of your own home is the Scientia Derma Roller.  This device opens pores using surgical steel micro-needles and works as an excellent acne scar remover.  Best of all, its pain free and easy to use.

Removing acne scarring will help you feel much better about yourself, as well as give you just the confidence boost that you need to tackle anything the world throws at you.

Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite – it may be a sensitive issue, but the removal of cellulite (or cellulite reduction) is a key concern for many people, particularly for us women. For those who don’t know, cellulite is a condition where the skin in the legs, abdomen, and pelvic region becomes dimpled. This is commonly referred to as “orange peel syndrome”.

Cellulite occurs at any age after puberty, and though women are affected to a far greater degree, it does affect both sexes. Furthermore and contrary to popular belief, cellulite has nothing to do with being overweight. However, the diet factors that contribute to cellulite do also contribute to becoming overweight. With cellulite being the kind of condition that can affect confidence and body image, cellulite removal is a real priority for many women.

Cellulite

Cellulite” is not a medical term, rather the commonly used name for collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath a person’s skin, which causes the surface of the skin to dimple, pucker and look lumpy. Medical authorities agree that cellulite is simply ordinary fatty tissue.

Strands of fibrous tissue connect the skin to deeper tissue layers and also separate compartments that contain fat cells. When fat cells increase in size, these compartments bulge and produce a waffled appearance of the skin.

It is widely accepted that the difference between male and female fat cells is also the reason behind why cellulite is more prominent in Women. In simple terms, a woman’s connective tissues are very inflexible, so as females gain weight their fat cells expand, and tend to bulge up towards the surface of the skin.

Poor diet, bad circulation, sluggish digestion, intake of toxins and fluid retention can all also act as a barrier to those who are trying to get rid of cellulite.

Remove Cellulite

Treatments like liposuction (gets rid of cellulite by surgically removing fat) and mesotherapy (treats cellulite by injecting of drugs into cellulite) are either expensive or may produce only temporary improvement. Many doctors even warn that liposuction is not an effective treatment for cellulite because liposuction is designed to remove deep fat instead of cellulite, which is close to the skin.

Scientia’s new anti cellulite therapy comes in the form of the very successful Scientia Derma Roller. Cellulite reduction is gradual, achieved in the privacy of home. It costs considerably less than alternative treatments and is a method of cellulite removal which works in harmony with your body, as opposed to taking away from it.

Cellulite Cream

As well as removing cellulite, using the Scientia Derma Roller can also boost the effectiveness of anti cellulite creams. It allows the cream to penetrate the upper layer of skin, increasing the effectiveness. For an example, absorption of vitamin C cream has been shown to increase by up to 40 times after using a derma roller!

It is the combination of modern science and manufacturing in conjunction with ancient Oriental acupuncture techniques which gives the Scientia Derma Roller the unique way in which to treat cellulite.

Derma-Roller – More than just a cellulite remover

Check the rest of the site to see how the Scientia Derma Roller can treat other skin related issues in addition to treating cellulite. Use the Derma-Roller to treat Wrinkles, Stretch Marks, Acne Scars and even Hairloss.

Hair Loss Treatment Video

Take a look at the hair loss treatment video below for detailed information on the causes of hair loss, how common it is, tips on how to treat hair loss and useful hints on reducing hair loss.

How common is hair loss?

Hair loss and a receding hairline are a sign that age is taking its toll on our bodies. For men, there is a very good chance that it’s only a matter of time before you start to notice that your hairline is receding. For 20% of men, male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia or AGA) starts as early as puberty. They will probably have extensive hairloss by the age of 30 or even younger. For them, male pattern baldness is extremely rapid and extensive.

For a further 60% of men, the hair loss process is more gradual, and starts later on in life. Regardless of the time frame however, near total baldness across the majority of the head areas affects most of the male adult population.

Female Hair Loss

Hairloss for men is more socially acceptable. Women on the other hand, often face a more traumatic experience from unexpected hair loss. While early adolescence and the 20’s are men’s potential problem times, for women susceptible to generic hair loss the menopause is an equally critical time.

Hair Growth

The rate of hair growth is 3mm per week (faster than any other part of the body except bone marrow).

This process of hair loss and hair regrowth is continuous and natural – it is only when daily hair loss greatly exceeds this rate that an unnatural condition may be present. The human head has an average of around 100,000 hair follicles, which can each produce about 20 hairs in a lifetime

Does hair colour make a difference?

People with red hair have 25% fewer scalp hairs than those with brown hair; whilst those with blond hair have 25% more scalp hairs and those with brown hair. This fact may account for the belief that men with red hair are more likely to go bald than anyone else.

Normally, this would be an ample amount of hair for one person, if it weren’t for many factors, including particularly D.H.T. or Dihyrotestosterone.

DHT – A Factor in Male Hair Loss

This is a powerful hormone in our bodies, which can adversely affect the hair on our head. It is very important for a person to have proper nutrition to maintain hair. When DHT reaches the hair follicles and dermal papilla, it tends to prevent proteins, vitamins and minerals from providing the necessary nourishment to sustain life in the hair of these follicles. Due to this, the hair follicles tend to reproduce at a slower rate and this in turn either shortens the growing phase of the hair follicles or lengthens its resting stage.

This can result in a shrinking of the hair follicle, which makes hair growth more difficult and makes hair more vulnerable to falling out.

Other Hair Loss Factors

In addition to the chemical effects of D.H.T. other factors influence hair growth. Poor nutrition, stress and old age also have an adverse affect on the ability to reproduce hair at a fast enough rate.

Hair Loss Reduction, Prevention and Hair Loss Products

If you want to reverse or prevent hair loss, what can be done?

Well, there are a lot of treatments which claim to help with the reduction of hair loss available, ranging  from creams to surgical procedures including Hair Transplants – many are quite costly, and all achieve mixed results.

The Scientia Derma Roller is a revolutionary device that treats hair loss using traditional oriental acupuncture techniques to enhance the skins’ natural healing abilities. It promotes increased blood flow to carry nutrients to the hair follicles, as well as boosting the effectiveness of creams and lotions designed for treating hair loss such as the very popular Regain.  An alternative method of treating hair loss which has very similar results, but without the needles is the Scientia Hair Laser.

Hair Loss Treatment Results:

The Scientia Derma Roller is a treatment for hair loss that gets results. In recent trials, over a 3 month period men treated with the Scientia Derma Roller experienced an increase in hair growth and an average 80% reduction of hair loss. The hair restoration and regrowth process can help with thinning hair, balding, bald spots, receding hairlines, alopecia and more.

In clinical practice, when combined with the use of Minoxidil, skin needling or micro-needling has excellent results.  Reported statistics indicate that around 85% of clients have their alopecia stabilised – so they do not continue to lose their hair. In 64% of these stabilised clients, new hair growth is reported.  In only 15% of cases, the hair loss continues.  This may be due to other additional health or environmental factors.  It is also important to realise that the dermarolling process must be continued to see results.  If you give up too soon, then you may not experience the full benefits.  Check out the Scientia Hair Laser page for details of the results you can expect from that product.

Also, while you are waiting for your hair loss treatment to take effect, you can enjoy the appearance of a full head of hair using Scientia Hair Fibers!  Just take a look and you will see how this great product stops hair loss being something to worry about :

Scientia Hair Fibers Before and After 30 Seconds

Is the Derma Roller Just used to Stop Hair Loss?

Of course, the Scientia Derma Roller can assist a much wider range of skin related problems. It’s gentle action stimulates the skin to return to its former healthy state by increasing collagen production in the skin, increased blood flow and enabling skin care products to penetrate and nourish much more effectively. As hair loss products go, it is very versatile.

Visit our Derma Rollers FAQ page for more information or perhaps our Derma Rollers Before and After Pictures page to see photographs of results. Alternatively we also have a Derma Rollers instructions page which describes in detail how the Scientia Derma Roller is used and how it works, as well as a reviews page so that you can see other users opinions on how well it prevents hair loss.
